Meet The Dogs

Aren't they adorable?

While some of you have seen our dogs before, I thought you may want to know a little about each of the "actors" in our daily drama. So, we will give you a small introduction to each of our furry critters. To annoy the cats, we are introducing the dogs first.

Zoe, our beautiful White Shepherd, is the Alpha in our furry little pack. For those of you that are not "dog people" this means she is in charge! But most girls usually are, aren't they ;)! She is 6 years old and is the smartest dog on the planet! She knows the names of all our cats & will herd them back to you.

The smaller white dog next to her is Reese, our little Hurricane Katrina Rescue. (No, he & Zoe are not related, even though they both have the same droopy ear).

Reese was four weeks old when the Hurricane hit New Orleans last year, so we have no idea what he may have went through. A no-kill rescue organization called Animal Ark, based out of a Minneapolis suburb, brought over 500 rescued dogs & cats to Minnesota last year from the Gulf Coast region. We went to the shelter one day with a friend of ours, because she was interested in fostering one of the Katrina dogs, but, as luck (and a soft heart) would have it, we ended up bringing him home to foster(and really, who are we kidding, to adopt). At first, he was afraid of everything, guarded his food with a fierce growl, & chased the cats. Now, as you can see in the picture, he's a member of the pack (but he still growls at the cats when they come too close to his food bowl, and he still chases the cats)!

Flynn, the Golden Retriever mix, is 5 years old & is really a "mama's dog." He is my snuggle buddy & the most playful of the three. He will actually play until he drops (then he gets back up and plays some more...)! And he really loves going to the farm (Heidi's parents) because he has a lot of room to run and chase farm cats (but they fight back, and not like the city cats fight back, the farm cats are mean...).
